The “Open Water Diver” scuba certification course, as sanctioned by PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) requires all affiliated dive companies to adhere to certain standards by which the course must be conducted. Unfortunately, as you will learn, these standards sometimes get sacrificed at your expense. To further complicate matters, PADI has little control over how a dive business markets the course to the general public, and prospective certification students can encounter confusing and misleading advertising information.
